Lake Garda Holidays

What to do on Lake Garda

When thinking about the most famous and best loved tourist destinations in Italy, Lake Garda springs to mind thanks to the range of activities in the surrounding area and on its shores which provide lots of opportunities for fun and relaxation.

And Villa Caratti is the dream villa that stands right on the shores of Lake Garda, more specifically in Torri del Benaco.

Lake Garda - the largest Italian lake with an area of 370 square kilometres - is the ideal place to spend wonderful holidays with family and friends or also by yourself!
Villa Caratti overlooks the lake; surrounded by mountains and with beaches and little bays with their own individual atmosphere, Lake Garda is truly a must-see destination.
In this article we will describe what to do on Lake Garda for your holidays in one of the most beautiful places in Italy.

What to see on Lake Garda if you have chosen Villa Caratti for your holidays

Lake Garda is not only the jewel in the crown of Italian tourism - as it embraces three Italian regions - but it is also an ideal place for those who love sailing, socialising in the evenings and excursions.

What to visit on Lake Garda if you have chosen Villa Caratti for your holidays? If you decide to spend an unforgettable holiday at Villa Caratti, a charming place to see is Limone sul Garda: one of the oldest and most popular villages on the shores of Italy's largest lake. Walking through the alleyways and fishermen's’ cottages, it’s impossible not to notice the "lemon houses", enclosed terraces, one on top of the other, where there are large fields of citrus trees.
The most famous of these conservatories is Limonaia del Castel – located between the mountains, via Orti and via Castello, recently renovated by the municipality and open to the public.

Isola del Garda

Among the most fascinating and evocative places that surround Italy’s largest lake, we find the famous Isola del Garda.
Also known as Isola Borghese, this magnificent island is located 200 meters from the coast, near San Felice del Benaco.

On the Isola di Garda – owned by the Cavazza family – you can visit Villa Ferrari - of Venetian neo- Gothic origin - with its arched windows and crenellated tower decorated with floral designs. Furthermore, this area was already inhabited in the Roman period as demonstrated by the various tombstones of that period which have been found. Today, the island is home to events and concerts. It’s a place to visit if you want to spend your holidays on Lake Garda.

Kitesurfing on Lago di Garda

Spending your holidays on Lake Garda also means enjoying its clear waters. How? Kitesurfing!

There are several schools in the area where you can take kitesurfing lessons but, for the more experienced, here is a list of beautiful places to go kitesurfing on Lake Garda:

  • Campione sul Garda: one of the best places for kitesurfing, with a wind (called Pelèr) that blows from morning until noon. On the beach you can find specialised facilities where you can rent the best equipment for beginners and experts.
  • Malcesine: thanks to the high average number of windy days a year, the period from March to October is the ideal time to go kitesurfing. You can also enjoy amazing sunsets.
  • Navene: a historic meeting place for many kitesurfers, where the wind blows with an average speed of 15 knots.

Windsurfing on Lake Garda

Among the various watersports you can enjoy during your holidays we also find - of course - windsurfing!
When the "Ora" begins, the lake is invaded by lots of coloured sails that cut through the water.

What is the Ora?
The Ora is the light wind that blows from south to north - from late morning to late afternoon - and allows aficionados to sail on Italy’s largest lake.
On Lake Garda you will find several specialised facilities where you can take lessons in all kinds of sport (from sailing to paddling and kitesurfing to windsurfing) and you can also rent motor boats and sailing boats for those who are undecided until the last minute whether to choose relaxation or adventure.

Villa Caratti: the holiday home on Lake Gara with a pool

On the contrary, for those who love spas, Villa Caratti is the holiday home on Lake Garda with a pool! The luxury villa - in addition to having private access to the famous Baia delle Sirene beach- provides unforgettable moments with its exclusive infinity pool: an elegant pool with a large tiled area from where you can enjoy the wonderful view of Lake Garda.

The area round the pool is also furnished with armchairs, sun loungers and chairs so that guests can spend the time relaxing.
With its countless comforts, Villa Caratti makes your holidays on Lake Garda truly exclusive.
